Middle years homeschool field trips to Blandford Nature Center will immerse students in nature and are designed to help integrate Next  Generation Science Standards while engaging students’ natural sense of  inquiry.  Each 90 minute program is offered from 1:30 to 3:00 pm, taught by our highly experienced, trained and educated staff and is geared toward children 11 to 13 years of age. Tuesday, March 24, 2020: Our Planet, Our Home

Do you really know how BIG our solar system is? Students will take some time to investigate our solar system and its size. Working together we will demonstrate our solar system on a much smaller scale to form a better understanding of its true expanse. After conceptualizing the true size of the solar system, students will consider the time and effort it would take to find a new home, or Planet B, for the human race..

Tuesday, April 14, 2020: Human Impact

How do humans impact the environment and our natural resources? Students will learn about some of these impacts and how they can make informed decisions on what best practices to utilize when protecting the Earth. Topics include water quality testing in addition to sound and light pollution. 

Tuesday, May 19, 2020: What Can We Do?

Students will participate in a debate to argue the current environmental ethics issue of the Line 5 pipeline. Each participant will be assigned a character to represent. Based on their character, they will need to make a fact-based argument and take a stance on the issue in the style of a debate. Once the debate concludes, a vote will be held. The future of our environment is in your hands. What can we do about it?
