Parent and youth (12 years old and up) this class is for you! Join our experienced blacksmith in the forge to learn how fire, metal and a hammer come together to create a decorative "S" Hook, which you will adorn with holiday ribbon flare! You will learn a few tricks of the trade in this introductory blacksmith class. Topics covered will include forge safety, tools, and fire building, and you will have an opportunity to work on a first project. No experience necessary! Blandford Nature Center will provide safety equipment, including gloves and ear and eye protection.

This program is only for ages 12 and up. Every registered teen must have a registered adult with them to participate.

Please Note: This program will be held indoors. It is also recommended to dress for the weather - our forge is inside an unheated, drafty building. Long shirts and pants and heavy duty, closed-toe shoes are also recommended for your safety. We suggest non-synthetic clothing for protection from sparks. If you do not have non-synthetic clothing, we can provide a leather apron. Please also bring a water bottle with you.
