Join us in the forge to build upon skills you learned in Blacksmith 101! As always, our experienced blacksmith will teach you a few tricks of the trade in this intermediate blacksmith class. You will work on a new project, which includes forging a handle that fits your grip! You will also continue to practice forge safety and fire building, and use traditional blacksmith tools. 

Completion of Blandford's Blacksmith 101 within the last two years (anytime in 2021 or 2022) is required to register for this class. You will be asked for the date of your last Blacksmith class during registration, which will be verified.

Blandford Nature Center will provide safety equipment, including gloves and ear and eye protection. Raw materials for your project will also be provided.

This program is only for ages 18 and up.

Please Note: This program will be held indoors.  It is also recommended to dress for the weather - our forge is inside an unheated, drafty building. Long shirts and pants and heavy duty, closed-toe shoes are also recommended for your safety. We suggest non-synthetic clothing for protection from sparks. If you do not have non-synthetic clothing, we can provide a leather apron. Please also bring a water bottle with you.

COVID-19 Information: As of January 1, 2023, face coverings are not required while participating in programs indoors or outdoors at Blandford. Blandford will continue to monitor local COVID rates and reserves the right to reinstate masking requirements for staff, general visitors, and program participants of all ages, regardless of vaccination status, if community health concerns arise. Blandford will notify program participants if this policy changes before a scheduled program takes place. Participants should not attend a program if they show any signs of infectious illness, including cough, fever, headache, runny nose, vomiting or diarrhea.

Cancellation Policy: Notice must be received at least 7 business days before the scheduled program to receive a 75% refund. There will be no refunds issued after that time. Due to processing fees, full refunds are not available. All Community Programs will be held unless there is severe weather. Please come prepared for the elements; refunds are not available for weather-related conditions except in the case of severe weather. All Community Programs will have a registrant minimum. If the minimum is not met, you will be contacted by Blandford Nature Center and notified of your refund options.
