Previous Blandford Blacksmith participants - this is an opportunity for you! Join our Blacksmith teacher for Open Forge Saturdays which will include demonstrations, Q&A, and hands-on smithing! You will continue to practice forge safety and fire building while using the shop for your own current or new projects. Open forge is for students who have completed Blandford's Blacksmith 101 or Blacksmith 102 classes within the last two years (anytime in 2020-2022), no substitutions or exceptions. You may bring in current projects you wish to continue working on or bring in your own raw materials to begin a new project. Raw materials are *not* provided during Open Forge but may be purchased through GR Central Iron and Steel. Projects during Open Forge time are limited to 40 inches long or smaller, due to shop space. Program fee includes shop use from 10am-1pm.
This program is geared toward adults 18 and older.
Price:
Members $40
Non-Members $48
Please Note: This program will be held indoors. It is recommended to dress for the weather – our forge is inside an unheated, drafty building. Long shirts and pants and heavy duty, closed-toe shoes are also recommended for your safety. We suggest non-synthetic clothing for protection from sparks. If you do not have non-synthetic clothing, we can provide a leather apron. Please also bring a water bottle with you.
COVID-19 Information: As of January 1, 2023, face coverings are not required while participating in programs indoors or outdoors at Blandford. Blandford will continue to monitor local COVID rates and reserves the right to reinstate masking requirements for staff, general visitors, and program participants of all ages, regardless of vaccination status, if community health concerns arise. Blandford will notify program participants if this policy changes before a scheduled program takes place. Participants should not attend a program if they show any signs of infectious illness, including cough, fever, headache, runny nose, vomiting or diarrhea.
