Join Aubrey Winfield from Gathered Botanicals for an evening of botanical distillation using an aromatic herb from the Blandford farm. In this program you will participate in preparing the herbs, learn about the basic principles of distilling in a copper alembic still, make a traditional rye four paste to seal the still, and discuss what hydrosols are and how to use them. While the herbs are distilling you will take an herb walk with herbalist Camilla Voelker and end with bottling the hydrosol you've participated in preparing. You will take a mini bottle home!

Instructor: Aubrey Winfield is a trained professional chef and chef instructor. After running a recreational cooking school for 8 years, and educating on the importance of what we put into our bodies; Aubrey began taking a closer look at what we put onto our bodies. Adapting her culinary skills for topical use, Gathered Botanicals began. Becoming a botanically driven way to care for our bodies through organic oils and seasonal plants. 

This program is for ages 13 and up.

Your program will be taking place at Blandford Farm, located at 3145 Milo Street NW, Grand Rapids MI 49504.

 

Please Note: This program will take place entirely outdoors. In the event of inclement weather, this program will be canceled, and participants will be notified of their refund options.

 

COVID-19 Information: As of January 1, 2023, face coverings are not required while participating in programs indoors or outdoors at Blandford. Blandford continues to monitor local COVID rates and reserves the right to reinstate masking requirements for staff, general visitors, and program participants of all ages, regardless of vaccination status, if community health concerns arise. Blandford will notify program participants if this policy changes before a scheduled program takes place. Participants should not attend a program if they show any signs of infectious illness, including cough, fever, headache, runny nose, vomiting or diarrhea.

Cancellation Policy
Notice must be received at least 7 business days before the scheduled program to receive a 75% refund. There will be no refunds issued after that time. Due to processing fees, full refunds are not available. All Community Programs will be held unless there is severe weather. Please come prepared for the elements as refunds are not available for weather-related conditions except in the case of severe weather. All Community Programs will have a registrant minimum. If the minimum is not met, you will be contacted by Blandford Nature Center and notified of your refund options.
