Interested in growing mushrooms at home? Chris Swinson of Mycophile's Garden will lead this fascinating program where you will learn how to grow beautiful, delicious mushrooms in your yard, garden, or garage. This 2-hour introductory cultivation class will cover all the basics of modern mushroom cultivation, focusing on growing mushrooms on the home and hobbyist level.
 
We will discuss what mushrooms can be cultivated, as well as when, where and how to grow over 2 dozen species of rare and delicious gourmet mushrooms with minimal input or cost. The class will provide you with the basics to begin your journey into mushroom cultivation, as well as the resources to expand your hobby on your own.
 
Participants may choose to purchase a mushroom grow kit (valued at $30) for a discounted price of $20 per kit. Additional kits, as well as fresh mushrooms, mushroom jerky, and other merchandise will also be available for purchase on the day of the class.

This program is recommended for adults and teens ages 13 and up. 
 

Please Note: This program will take place entirely indoors in a classroom setting.

 

Cancellation Policy: Notice must be received at least 7 days before the scheduled program to receive a 75% refund. Due to processing fees, full refunds are not available. There will be no refunds issued after that time. All Community Programs will be held unless there is severe weather. Please come prepared for the elements as refunds are not available for weather-related conditions except in the case of severe weather. All Community Programs will have a registrant minimum. If the minimum is not met, you will be contacted by Blandford Nature Center and notified of your refund options.

 

COVID-19 Information: As of January 1, 2023, face coverings are not required while participating in programs indoors or outdoors at Blandford. Blandford continues to monitor local COVID rates and reserves the right to reinstate masking requirements for staff, general visitors, and program participants of all ages, regardless of vaccination status, if community health concerns arise. Blandford will notify program participants if this policy changes before a scheduled program takes place. Participants should not attend a program if they show any signs of infectious illness, including cough, fever, headache, runny nose, vomiting or diarrhea.
