Are you curious about the process of how to use the needle felting fiber art technique to create a small sculpture? Join Firefly Studios for this fun class to create your very own, unique fox sculpture using barbed felting needles and wool. Class instruction will include wool types used, needle safety precautions and proper use, how to create a form using core wool, adhering pieces to the core, and adding exterior details with dyed wool. Plenty of dyed wool options will be available to choose from. Though each finished project size varies, the average is approximately 3.5-4” tall. Examples and demonstration of techniques will be provided, and no previous needle felting experience is necessary. This is a wonderful class to begin with, and is also fun for those with previous experience! Examples and demonstrations of techniques will be provided, and plenty of wool options will be available to choose from.
This program is for adults and kids, ages 12 and up. Registered kids (ages 12-16) must be accompanied by a registered adult.
About the Instructor Sam:
I am a self-taught felt artist, and have been making felt since being introduced to both needle felting and wet felting in 2009. The sculptural qualities of wool are impressive, making creative possibilities seemingly endless. I glean much of my inspiration from the natural environment, particularly patterns, colors, and shapes. From there, I create various types of items including vessels, wall art pieces, sculptures, jewelry, and wearable felted items that are nuno felted. Along with working in the studio, I also regularly teach classes concerning these art forms at varying locations and age groups.
