Join ANFT certified forest therapy guide, Katie Venechuk, to explore the relaxing practice of guided Shinrin-yoku beneath the October night sky at Blandford Nature Center (BNC)! This program begins with a brief introduction to the background and research of Shinrin-yoku (translated in English as “forest bathing”), how it differs from a hike in the woods, and why it’s internationally recognized as an effective tool for natural stress relief. From there, you’ll be led into the forest for a full length (three hour long) Shinrin-yoku experience, stepping away from the busyness of day-to-day life for time in nature as the sun sets and the night sky deepens above us.
This experience includes a guided meditation, prompts for nature exploration after dark, and more – helping you to slow down, notice new details in the world around you, and build deep memories of your time outside. We’ll end with a candlelit wild foraged tea ceremony in the woods, offering you a chance to sip a nutritious tea, enjoy a snack, visit with community, and ask our guide questions. From tree silhouettes to nighttime wildlife and the beauty of a crescent moon, there is so much to discover during an evening in the forest! There will be no refunds issued within 7 days of the program. All Community Programs will be held unless there is severe weather, as determined by Blandford and the program guided. If a program is cancelled due to severe weather you will receive a full registration refund. Please come prepared for the elements as refunds are not available for weather-related conditions except in the case of severe weather, when you have been contacted that the program has been cancelled.
